Kudos to all the Juneau voters who have chosen to vote early in this year’s Regular Municipal Election. The deadline for applying for a By-Mail Ballot has now passed but there are a few more days to cast your ballot early at one of our Absentee In Person voting stations or via a By Fax/Electronic Transmission. For complete details, see below:

By Fax (Electronic Transmission):

Fax (electronic transmission) voting is a method to allow voters to cast a ballot when a by-mail ballot is not a possibility. A qualified voter must submit a signed, written request for a fax ballot to the election official’s office no later than 5:00 p.m. the day before Election Day. The voter must sign a certificate with the following statement: “I understand that by using fax transmission to return my marked ballot, I am voluntarily waiving a portion of my right to a secret ballot to the extent necessary to process my ballot, but expect that my vote will be held as confidential as possible.”

Click Here for the application for a By Fax/Electronic Transmission Ballot.

For the October 1, 2019 Regular Election, the signed application for a fax ballot must be received in the City Clerk’s Office no later than 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 30. When a completed application for a faxed ballot is received, a ballot will be faxed or e-mailed, along with instructions for marking and submitting the voted, witnessed ballot by fax or mail.

Personal Representative Voting:

A qualified voter who is unable to go to the polling place on election day due to age, illness or disability, may appoint a personal representative to obtain a ballot for the voter on or after September 16, 2019, up to and including election day. Persons who are ill or unable to go to the polls, who still wish to vote and have not chosen one of the methods above, are encouraged to request a friend or family member to serve as their Personal Representative to assist them in obtaining and voting their ballot.
