Coffee & Collections: Death as a Headline (1900-1960) by Betsy Longenbaugh & Ed Schoenfeld April 6

Join us for a cup of coffee and a presentation by former Juneau criminal reporters, Ed Schoenfeld and Betsy Longenbaugh. Ed and Betsy will present on historical murders that occurred in Juneau and Douglas between 1900 and 1960.

Ed Schoenfeld, who retired recently from public broadcasting, covered some of the best known murders in the area during his more than 30 years reporting in Juneau, including the mass murder trial of John Kenneth Peel. Betsy Longenbaugh, was a crime reporter for the Juneau Empire and Sitka Daily Sentinel and is an avid amateur historian.

Ed and Betsy are recipients of the Juneau History Grant which was awarded to help fund their visual presentation, Death as a Headline: Murder in Juneau/Douglas 1900-1960. In October 2018, Betsy and Ed led a downtown walking tour for the City Museum of several locations related to famous murders in the capital city. Beginning May 2019, Ed and Betsy will lead the tour for the City Museum each month through August. Tickets for the upcoming tours will be available for early purchase on April 6th.
