Historic Treadwell Mine Walking Tour August 17

  • This tour begins at Sandy Beach on Douglas.

The City Museum invites you to join local historian, Jim Geraghty, for a walking tour of the Treadwell Historical Trail at Sandy Beach on Saturday, May 18th from 1:00-3:30pm.  Tickets  must be purchased in advance at the City Museum or by calling 907-586-3572 and include a pass for free admission to the City Museum, and a 20% discount coupon on select items in the Museum Store.

Tour guide Jim Geraghty is a life-long Alaskan, an avid historian, and hiker who has spent years exploring local mining sites and poring over countless photos and documents relating to Juneau’s history. He has been a Guest Researcher at the Alaska State Museum and has given presentations on the history of Juneau and Southeast Alaska at the City Museum, Alaska State Museum, Mendenhall Glacier Visitor Center, and University of Alaska Southeast.
