Programmer Analyst I

Full Time 37.5 Hours per week $61,347.00- $67.626.00 Annually (DOQ)

Information

Programmer Analyst I, under general supervision, performs routine programming tasks to maintain computer software and application servers and to assist higher-level computer professionals with a wide variety of larger and more complex assignments. Work is generally within well-defined guidelines and is reviewed on a regular basis and upon completion.

Job Responsibilities

  • Evaluates technical and economic feasibility of proposed systems and the conversion of existing systems.

 

  • Responds to inquiries from users concerning capabilities of hardware and software systems; assesses requirements; recommends program designs and procedures.

 

  • Designs programs in consultation with users, the Systems Operations Manager, and other information systems staff.

 

  • Writes program specifications.

 

  • Codes and debugs programs.

 

  • Evaluates proposed systems and programs developed by consultant and/or software manufacturers to determine acceptability.

 

  • Installs and tests software and hardware systems.

 

  • In consultation with users, the Systems Operations Manager and/or other information systems staff determines security requirements and develops methods to provide for such security.

 

  • Writes and maintains system documentation and user manuals.

 

  • Conducts training programs for users in the use and application of systems, programs and hardware.

 

  • Measures personal workload demand; keeps supervisor informed with periodic assessments of demand levels.

 

  • Installs, maintains, and troubleshoots data networking equipment.

 

  • Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of technical experience in computer or telecommunications support that included working in a computer programming language, other than a mark-up language like HTML.

 

Substitution: Two (2) years of post-secondary education from an accredited college with a major in Computer Science, Computer Networking, Information Systems or closely related field will substitute for the required experience.
