Administrative Assistant I

Full Time 37.5 Hours per week $19.72- $21.05 Hourly (DOQ)

Capital City Fire & Rescue is looking for an Administrative Assistant I to help us carry out our Mission! Working at the Juneau Fire Station is meaningful and rewarding for those who have a passion to serve their community. This position helps to provide the vital administrative support needed to carry out smooth operations behind the scenes.

 

The person we are looking for staffs our front desk and is the first point of contact at the Juneau Fire Station. In this role, they will assist members of the public, visitors to the station, answer phone calls and respond to emails.

Job Responsibilities

Examples of work performed by this position include:

Coordinating and conducting station tours

Coordinating Volunteer Fire Fighters

Tracking important training and certifications

Providing confidential records releases for EMS and Fire services

Providing back up support for coordinating travel and training

Assisting with time keeping in a 24 hour facility for Firefighters and other CCFR staff

Assisting with budget preparation

Filing – yes, even the Fire Department needs to file!

What is in this for you?

This is a fully benefitted position. Starting pay is $19.72 - $21.05 dependent on qualifications. Pay increases based on merit are earned upon completion of the six month probationary period, and annually thereafter. Additionally, 1% increases to the MEBA salary schedule will occur on July 6, 2020 and July 5, 2021.

Minimum Qualifications

Education:       High School graduation or the equivalent.

 

Experience:      Twelve (12) months of clerical work experience.

 

Substitution:     Post-Secondary or business college training may be substituted for the required experience on the basis of 2.5 semester hours (3.75 quarter hours) for one (1) month of experience up to a maximum of six (6) months.

 

Other:              A valid State of Alaska driver's license at time of appointment and for continued employment.

                          Basic CPR within 90 days of appointment.
