The Fire Marshals Office oversees the annual inspection of businesses in the City and Borough of Juneau. The purpose of these inspections is to improve the fire and life safety for all residents and visitors. If you would like to schedule an annual fire inspection for an existing business/ building or have any questions, please contact the Fire Marshal’s Office to make an appointment.

Child Care facilities within the City and Borough of Juneau require a fire inspection for both the initial application as well as for renewal of the child care license. Please use our checklist as a guide to assist you to prepare for a Child care facility inspection. A childcare facility inspection requires a fee which must be paid through the Juneau Permit Center at (907) 586-0770. Once the permit fee has been paid, contact the Fire Marshal’s Office to schedule an appointment.

Establishments within the City and Borough of Juneau that are in need of a liquor license renewal through the Alaska Beverage Control Board will be required to obtain a current fire inspection. The inspection requires a fee which must be paid through the Juneau Permit Center at (907) 586-0770. Once the permit fee has been paid, contact the Fire Marshal’s Office to schedule an appointment of your facility.

The Fire Marshal’s Office is responsible for providing fire code plan review and inspection services. These services include pre-construction site plan reviews, construction final inspections, existing commercial building inspections, plan review and testing of fire protection systems, and reviewing storage plans for high-piled combustible and hazardous materials. This is part of the plan review process that is initiated through the Juneau Permit Center.
