WHERE TO GET HELP

  • For those impacted by the shutdown, new late fees and interest on unpaid CBJ Utility bills will be forgiven. Please contact the Collection’s Office at 586-5268 if this applies to you.
  • Bartlett Regional Hospital is implementing a temporary payment deferral program to assist patients impacted by the impasse. BRH will allow federally employed patients to apply for a deferred payment plan that will place a “hold” on all eligible accounts during this time. Patients that qualify for the program will not be considered for bill collection during the duration of the shutdown.   • For federal employees and their immediate families, Juneau Pools is offering two free open swim sessions. Please bring government identification. Space is limited:
    Wednesday, January 30, 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Dimond Park Aquatic Center &
    Friday, February 1, 6:30 to 8 p.m. for Moonlight Swim at Augustus Brown Pool
  • For federal employees and their immediate families, Treadwell Arena is offering a free open skate session, including skate rentals, on Sunday, February 3 at 11:45 a.m. Please bring government identification. Space is limited.
  • Southeast Alaska Food Bank, located on 10020 Crazy Horse Dr., will have a special opening for all Federal Employees and their families every Monday until the shutdown ends. Please bring CAC identification or military dependent ID to show. 50 lbs. of food per family. Call 209-7801 for opening times.
  • Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) is open and able to assist any family with children under the age of 5, moms who are pregnant or are postpartum. For more information, call 463-4099.
  • Alaska Electric Light and Power Company (AEL&P) has a credit counselor available to discuss payment arrangements for customers affected by the federal government shutdown. Please call Shelah at 463-6305.
  • Alaska 2-1-1 is committed to helping our neighbors impacted by the federal government shutdown. Furloughed federal employees and government contractors in need of social services can call 2-1-1 or 1-800-478-2221 to get help (www.alaska211.org). Alaska 2-1-1 is a service of the United Ways of Alaska.
