Get a COVID-19 Community Update every Tuesday at 4 p.m.

When it comes to COVID-19, there is a lot to keep track of, from the global to the local to the personal. The City and Borough of Juneau wants to make it easier to stay informed on what’s happening on the community level. City Manager Rorie Watt and members of CBJ’s Emergency Operations Center will present weekly updates on the status of COVID-19 in Juneau every Tuesday at 4 p.m. After a brief presentation, a portion of the update will be devoted to questions from the community submitted ahead of time. Members of the press will also have an opportunity to ask questions.

Tourism – Where are we headed?

The Assembly recently appointed a Visitor Industry Task Force to try and get some advice on how to proceed with the touchy issue of tourism grown. There are many valid community perspectives on cruise ship tourism and they range from reducing the current visitation (and maybe having a day a week with no ships) to embracing the growth and building new facilities to accommodate increased numbers. Want to understand CBJ finances on a deeper level? Now is the time to pay attention.

The Assembly Finance Committee is looking deeply at City and Borough of Juneau finances. Through presentations and interactive resources, CBJ staff is getting into the nuts and bolts of the budgeting process, as well as giving the committee a big picture overview of CBJ’s finances. The public is encouraged to follow along by attending the meetings or looking closely at the agenda packets.
